Thankful 2.22.18

Thursday:
  1. We had a special visit from Uncle John John. The girls were so excited to see him. I particularly loved listening to the on-point voices while reading The Pout Pout Fish and him quizzing Gunner on the state capitals.
  2. Ina's school for not shaming me for sending a kid with pink eye in the classroom. I thought it was more of a "cold in her eye" but apparently two other kids in her class had it, so it would appear to be the infectious type.
  3. Although both of my grandmas were in the hospital, they seem to be doing better when I visited them. My mom's mom Grandma Beverly thought she had a stroke, but instead had a few bad infections. My dad's mom Grandma June had a planned shoulder surgery. They were in the same hospital, so Mira and I paid them a visit and walked back and forth to the rooms. Babies are the best medicine.
Friday:
  1. Being able to work from home with Mira while she is sick. She had a fever for three days, and I almost took her to urgent care, but then it was better. Whew.
  2. The abundance of clean panties that fit Cora. We needed ALL of them.

Saturday:
  1. Big Daddy's Donuts for breakfast. Our house on been eating pretty clean, so it was a fun treat for everyone.
  2. After 2 full days of attempting to potty train Cora with zero successes (despite the glitter) and both of us getting more frustrated by the second, we made the decision that she just wasn't ready and put it on hold for a few more weeks. I honestly forgot how hard potty training is. As Cora has told me a few times, "Mommy, you need to be patient."
  3. Dan continues to perfect his steak grilling skills. We added beets, roasted green beans, and salad after cleaning her plate Ina declared, "This is the best meal I have eaten in my life."

Sunday:

  1. Our church and their amazing plan of action when things don't go as planned. I don't do well during times of high stress, but they stayed calm, cool, and collected.
  2. My small group for understanding when we had to cancel because I just had too many things to do in one day...and went a little crazy trying to do them. I may have kicked a trash can when something fell out of the pantry.
  3. Getting to film a project for our church. It was so fun and I had the extra perk of meeting one of the main Daniel Plan people - Dee Eastman. I was more than a little star struck, and she was more wonderful in person. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face when I left.

Monday:

  1. An extra holiday off work. My company merged with a new company and President's Day of work was one of the changes. I'll take it.
  2. The weather was so nice that Danielle and I decided to take all five kids on a walk. The older kids rode their bikes, Danielle pushed the two middles in the stroller, and I wore Mira. All was fantastic until Ina went a little rogue on the bike which resulted in me running down the street while wearing a baby yelling like a maniac. I am hoping that everyone else in my neighborhood was at work and didn't witness it.
  3. My aunt, uncle, and cousin were in town to watch my sister's kids and we had the chance to meet up with them at the bounce house. After 1.5 hours of bouncing their hearts out, those kids were ready for some lunch. Steak N' Shake could not boil the macaroni fast enough. Ina said, "Mom, you make mac n cheese faster than this." Patience child.

Tuesday:

  1. No school for Ina due to an ice storm. The girls all went to Granny's for the day.
  2. After some rough news from my company and hearing that many jobs will no longer exist, I am oh so thankful to still have my job.
  3. Mira has been constipated and fussy and now, well, now she isn't.
Wednesday:

  1. With all of these snow days I am more than thankful to
  2. I got my hair cut! Of course, I didn't take a picture, but I am approximately 7 inches lighter and it feels fantastic. Also, with all these snow days it was nice to have a reason to put real clothes on.
  3. Dan has stayed safe while salting the streets over night.
Recipes:

Pakistani Kima: the adults loved it, but the only kid that ate it was Ina. Whomp whomp. Oh well, more leftovers for me.

Ramen - this needed "something" more. I might play a little more with the spices next time.

Cheeseburger soup with our favorite bread.

Bibimbap- loved it. (subbed brown rice, turkey, tamari, and honey)

Homemade peanut butter cups- a perfectly clean treat

Green lemonade smoothie- Gibson says that I put grass in my smoothies. He isn't far off.

Workouts: I have been sleeping through the gym, which stinks, but Mira is on a sleep strike right now. A few workouts I liked:

  • Random push-ups. I try to do 10 at a time.
  • Treadmill 2 minute walk / 1 minute run for 25 minutes
  • This total body HIIT

Have a great end to your week! <3
