Good morning and Happy (kind of) Friday!
This week I am thankful for:
-Family. Of course I am always super thankful for family, but nothing like a funeral to remind us about what is really important.
- My blue lounge chair, which my willing husband drags everywhere for me to, well, lounge in. Yesterday after the funeral the family went back to Dan’s parents’ house and I enjoyed having my feet up and watching the kids and boys play.
-My new (temporary) nickname. Yesterday during the funeral the speaker said that Dan’s grandpa had 20 and “three quarters” great-grandchildren. Everyone thought that was hilarious and called me “three quarters” for the rest of the day. Of course the math person in me, along with the completely sick of being pregnant person in me, wanted to say, “It is technically like nine-tenths."
-Our safety during last night’s severe weather. Dan stayed at his mom’s house to help her clean up today, while Ina and I drove back home yesterday evening. We must have missed the first part of the storm, because when we walked in the house the power was on, but all the clocks were flashing. Then, just as Ina and I got in bed and I opened the page of our first book, the tornado sirens started going off. Ina and I flew to the basement and I must have scared her, because for the next hour she kept on asking me where the tornado was, if it would get in our house, and “was that the tornado knocking on our door?”
Next time, it would probably be better to stay calm.
-Baby hiccups. For the past week or so I was sure I was have Braxton Hicks contractions because I was feeling something different than normal. I told my sister that it couldn’t be the baby moving, but it felt like the baby was tapping a beat. She giggled and said, “Oh, the baby just has the hiccups.” Now every time I feel them.
I plan on spending the next few days relaxing as much as possible. I hope you do the same and enjoy your holiday weekend!
