From Farm to Face

Good morning and Happy Friday!

When did she get so big? 

This was a long week and I am looking forward to some down time this weekend. 

Well, just when I said I wasn’t going to cook until this baby is outside my belly, I proved myself wrong all day long yesterday. I woke up craving blueberries, so I made this blueberry crisp for breakfast.

I know that technically that recipe is for dessert, but all of the ingredients are in breakfast foods too. Judge if you must.

Ina was at her grandparents’ house, so I had some time to kill before starting work. I spent an entire hour weeding our garden, and only got about half way done. BUT, besides weeds, I finally harvested something edible - kale and cucumbers.

Isn’t nature beautiful? 

I had a kale salad (massaged with olive oil, lemon juice, and salt and topped with chopped apple, jalapeƱos, kalamata olives, and feta cheese) for lunch, along with a chip and ham sandwich (you know, to make sure I wasn’t eating completely healthy).

Then for dinner I made meatloaf, baked some sweet potatoes, and roasted some broccoli. Seriously, I spent more time in the kitchen yesterday than I have in a month and it felt so nice. Maybe I am turning over a new leaf!

I hear someone calling for me.
