Things Ina Says [2.25 Years]

While attempting to put her doll’s diaper on, she became very frustrated when it kept creeping up to the doll’s head. She sighed, looked at me, and asked, “Why does this always happen to me?

[Her favorite things to cook are bacon, chicken and pink soup. Mmmmm!]

Danielle: Ina, it’s time for nap.

Ina: Danielle, that’s inappropriate.

Ina: Will the panda bears get me? (She asks this question every night before bed. I have no idea why she is scared of panda bears, but she is.)

Me: No, Ina, I won’t let any panda bears get you.

Ina: Don’t let me down, Mom.

While taking a shower (we usually take them together to save time),

Ina: Momma, your big butt is bigger than my small butt.

Me: Um, what?

Ina: My small butt is littler than your big butt.

Me: I think it is time to stop taking showers together.

Words she knows are bad, so says them to get a reaction out of me:

  • Butt (see above)
  • Butt hole
  • Fat (Grrrr)

In general, Ina’s vocabulary is exploding and it is so fun to watch her learn new words and hear her use them. She has also developed somewhat of a stutter, which is apparently pretty normal in this stage of development and most likely will go away on its own. She had it a little when we were in Texas in November, then it went away over Christmas. A few weeks later it came back and has slowly dwindled. Now she only stutters when she is asking a question, like,

"Wha-wha-what is that mommy?"

It is like her little brain is moving so fast she can’t slow down enough to ask. Usually I just ignore the stutter (what her doctor told me to do) or gently say, “Slow down girl!” and she gets it out eventually.

She also talks all the time, but comes by that completely honestly. Between me, Ina, and Dan, our house is a very lively place. I think this baby is going to be happy to get out of my belly just so it(she?) can have some peace and quiet.

Have a good week!
