Hello 2015 and Happy New Year!
I have heard that the way you spend New Year’s Day sets the stage for your upcoming year. If that is the case, then 2015 will be the year of sweat pants. I put a pair on yesterday morning, thinking I would change, and never did. I was also putting away laundry yesterday and noticed that although Dan and Ina wore normal clothes all week, the only thing I seemed to wear was pajamas. Oh, the benefits of working from home.
Other things we did yesterday:
- Kim stopped by to cut our hair.
This was Ina’s first “official” snip, and I don’t even want to admit the last time my hair has seen a pair of scissors. Ina was actually pretty good through the whole process - a little wiggly, but no tears. I think watching me go first helped. She also loves Kim. In fact, she didn’t want her to leave!
- We watched Dennis the Menace as a family. It was one of my and Dan’s favorite movies as kids, and Ina seemed to like it too.
- While Dan and Ina napped I completed my first day of #365DaysofTruth reading and then readjusted our budget, taking Dan’s new income and a few new upcoming expenses into account. We still plan to use the basic principals of Financial Peace University, but have to slightly adjust because we use a credit card (that has never carried a balance) for airline points. I am trying a new (half cash envelope, half credit card) system, and if that works well, I will share it with you.
(Throwback picture! Dan’s opinions about budgeting haven’t changed much since then. Ha!)
-We had plans to go swimming at our gym’s indoor pool, but then realized our gym was closed for the holiday, so I put in a few miles on the treadmill instead.
For entertainment, I downloaded the first episode of Serial, because I have heard so many good things about it. One episode in, and I know I will listen to all twelve. I just have to know what happens.
-After reading approximately 15 books to Ina, we finally went to sleep around 9.
Happy Friday and I hope you have a fantastic first weekend of 2015!
