My Gift Exchange Strategy + Skinnytaste Cook Book Giveaway

(I can’t believe I am actually admitting this in writing.)

Yesterday was our last Christmas event.  My mom’s side of the family met for lunch, chatting, and a gift exchange.

This is a stress free event because long ago we decided that instead of buying presents for everyone, we would just do a “white elephant” type gift exchange.  We each contribute a gift, draw numbers, are allowed to steal, etc. I am sure you know the drill.

After many years in a row of coming home with things like paper towel holders or watching someone open the gift I contributed with a disappointed look on her face, I decided to change my strategy.

For the past few years, I buy something that I want.  

I know, it sounds horrible, but hear me out.

If I buy something that I want, then regardless of what happens, my gift isn’t wasted.  I always “go for” my gift, but usually someone else steals it, which is fine by me, because that means that it was a useful purchase.   However, if no one else wants it, I get it and go home with something that I have wanted but wouldn’t normally buy for myself.  

Me actually getting my own gift has happened twice in the past five years of my “strategy.”  Yesterday was one of those times and I am so happy.  

I came home with The Skinnytaste Cook Book (+ a bag of chia seeds) and I can’t wait to cook every recipe in the thing.  

Skinnytaste was the first blog I cooked from and I feel like Gina taught me that eating healthy can taste flavorful and delicious.  

I actually think that a few other people may have wanted it, but I was one of the last to pick, so no one really had the opportunity to steal it. So, in order to not feel like a horrible person, I am going to give away a Skinnytaste cookbook today.  Enter by clicking the link below:

  1. I bought this cookbook and I LOVE it! I too, started cooking from her blog and loved everything that she had posted. Try the Broccoli Mac and Cheese!! I only used half of the pasta in the recipe, then added cooked chicken. Mike wanted to go back for a third helping!!
