Handing out candy on Halloween is hands down better than going trick-o-treating.
We loved getting to see all the costumes and having the chance to say hi to many friends from the neighborhood, a few of which stopped in to stay awhile.
Every time the doorbell rang Ina would squeal, “Happy Halloween!” and run to the door. However, she wasn’t the biggest fan of the masks, and often would whisper, “I’m scared” and then attempt to shut the door while I was still handing out the candy.
Dan also came home with an arm full of groceries, poured me a glass of wine, and then proceeded to cook me the best enchiladas I have every put in my mouth. I am one lucky lady.
Yesterday Danielle (my friend, Ina’s babysitter) and her family came over for dinner There was pad Thai to be cooked and an adorable 2 week old baby to be held, so I didn’t take any pictures. But we had a great time. Hopefully we will do it again soon.
This is our last normal week before our travel/holiday/birthday extravaganza begins, so I would like to stick to my meal and exercise plan. The one hitch? My knee is hurting worse than it ever has. it is swollen and sore to the touch, it hurts when I bend it but not when I run. I spoke with my massage therapist friend, and she thinks it might be a tight IT band issue. So, I am going to try to do lots of stretching and limit my exercise to the water. Thank God I didn’t cancel my gym membership!
Here is my plan for the week:
- Sunday: stuffed chicken marsala with brussels sprouts
- Monday: hearty chicken stew with butternut squash and quinoa
- Tuesday: chicken sausage, white beans, and kale
- Wednesday: slow cooker hamburger heaven
- Thursday: The ultimate chicken and broccoli dinner
- Friday: leftovers
- Saturday: something social or out to eat
