Coffee Date

I love coffee time in the morning, especially with my family or when I am on vacation.  It is the time to just sit, relax, and absorb the day ahead.  I also love reading other bloggers’ posts about coffee dates, so I decided to write one today.

So pour yourself a cup of coffee, tea, or ice water and have a seat.  Let’s chat.

If we were having coffee right now, I would tell you that today coffee is necessary.  Dan likes to sleep with his head at the foot of the bed and last night we couldn’t figure out the blanket situation, so I woke up every 15 minutes freezing.  I would also tell you that we have about 100 blankets in our house, so I have no idea why I just didn’t get up and grab another one.  Sigh.

If we were having coffee right now, I would probably brag about how smart Ina is.  Last night when we were reading before bed, she practically read Horton Hears a Who right along with us, and knew about 5 of the letters in Chica Chica Boom Boom.  She also counts like a mad woman, and often whens she sees multiple of something she will say, “Momma, two blankets!”   After bragging I would tell you that we are still working on her kindness and manners.  She has started to say, “No, thank you” instead of just plan, “no” or, “NOOOO!” but we still have to coax out every single “please.”

If we were having coffee right now, I would likely talk about the email that the passport agency just sent me saying that I am getting my new passport next week! Just in time too, because I am going on a cruise with my girlfriends in October and to Argentina in November.

If we were having coffee right now, I would tell you that I just signed up for another half marathon in April.  It has been almost a year since I have ran one, so it is about time!  My part-time job actually paid for my race entry fee- how cool is that?

If we were having coffee right now, I would complain about my fantasy football team.  It is doing horrible.  Like really bad.  Like I might not win a game this season.  Lesson learned - never pick a QB first - I’m looking at you Aaron Rogers.

If we were having coffee right now, I would probably talk about other stuff too.  Stuff that doesn’t belong on the internet.  [Are you surprised that I have limits?  Ha!]

If we were having coffee right now, I would ask how you are doing.  How are your kids?  Pets?  Parents?  How about your job?

Cheers!

  1. Having coffee as I read your blog, does that count? I sincerely enjoy the glimpse into your life, marriage, family, relationship with God, friends, food, etc. You have a refreshing and wonderful outlook! If you were sitting across from me, I'd likely blab on and on about my four incredible sons - how much I miss my oldest son that just went off to college, how hard my 15-year-old is working at getting a starting spot on his JV football team, how my 7-year-old is entering a learning explosion, and how I am amazed that my 3-year-old can continue being so mouthy and cute all at the same time! Life is pretty busy, it might be a few cups morning, and there's nothing wrong with that! :)
