Good Monday morning! I am starting this one out pretty late, but wanted to pop in for a short Mother’s Day post before recapping vacation over the next few days.
I wanted to something for Mother’s Day that wasn’t at a restaurant - for many reasons - we had just had a week’s worth of restaurant meals on vacation, sometimes restaurants are more difficult with kids, and I think that we would actually get more quality family time at home.
However, meals at home mean someone usually has work to do, and everyone knows moms aren’t suppose to lift a finger on Mother’s Day.
So, my genius ideal of an ice cream bar was born. I provide the ice cream, everyone else provides the toppings,
and everyone is happy.
It was a beautiful day to sit outside, but after a while it was so hot that I was motivated enough to pull out Ina’s pool from last year. After some scrubbing and a few duck tape patches, it was usable.
The water was freezing but the kids absolutely loved it.
After everyone left our house, the fatigue set in, but I had just enough energy to make my planned dinner (crunchy taco hamburger rice skillet with broccoli.
It felt very nice to have a home-cooked meal at our table with just the 3 of us.
A perfect Mother’s Day.
I hope you have a blessed week!
