Allergy Advice?

Cough.

Sniff.

Hack.

Our entire house has been hit my allergies this year.  I swear, even the dog is sniffling.

I have my yearly allergy induced sore throat, which is lovely.

Dan walks around with huge wads of napkins in his pocket.  Seriously, the man hoards napkins from restaurants in anticipation for allergy season.  Do you think he knows they sell Kleenex in portable packs?

Poor Ina is pretty good during the day, but at night she coughs and sounds like she can’t breathe and gets choked on all of that gunk.  We have been giving her Zyrtec at night for about a week and last night added on the humidifier.

Those are helping, but she still coughs and wakes up often during the night.  Any advice?

Maybe we should stop playing outside so much?

Ugh, I think being cooped up inside during this beautiful weather would be more unbearable than the allergies.

We had an amazing comfort food dish last night - turkey curry.  It felt weird to eat it outside, but it was still delicious.

Oh, and I also did this extremely effective 20 minute workout yesterday morning.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. I usually suffer from terrible tree and grass allergies this time if year. Sometimes I sneeze 10 times in row, my nose runs incessantly, my throats get sore from the drainage, and I snore like a Harley. I have made many changes over the last 3 years. Quit smoking. Started clean eating. Quit all refined sugars and grains. Starting regular prayer and meditation. Nothing made a difference to my allergies until I started "oil pulling" . I have had zero allergy symptoms this year. First thing every morning, before coffee or water, I put a tablespoon of unrefined coconut oil in my mouth. I squish it around until it melts, then swish for 10-20 minutes (I use this time to pray/meditate). When the times up, I spit the oil out and brush me teeth, tongue, and mouth with all natural toothpaste (I just mix baking soda, peroxide, peppermint oil, and grapefruit oil). I don't know if there is any way to apply this to Ina, but it might be worth a try with Dan and you. I've been doing it for a while, so I don't know how quickly he might see results. I do know I just seem to be getting to skip allergy season thus year.
