Good morning!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend! Mine was really awesome.
(Finally captured the sunflowers in an acceptable outfit and all she wanted to do was eat them. Go figure.)
Yesterday I did a very mini triathalon. I biked 12 miles,
then ran one mile (holy heavy jello / spaghetti legs!),
then lounged in the pool.
That counts, right?
As I was cranking my bike pedals up a very steep hill, I was thinking about what motivates me to do crazy things like this. Here is what I came up with:
1. My family - I want to live a long healthy life to be around these people as much as possible. The healthier I am, the happier I will be, and the more they will enjoy being around me.
Also, I really want to be a good example for Ina. I want to show her that being active can be fun!
2. Food.
(Dan's chicken enchilada pizza création)
I know it isn't a mystery to anyone, but I love food. I am being completely honest when I say that there are some days I exercise just so I can eat more. This isn't everyday, and if I eat more than I should I don't freak out and jump on the treadmill, but the extra calorie burn is a nice perk that I don't ignore.
3. You guys! This blog really has motivated me to continue to push myself. I know I never would have signed up for a triathlon if it wasn't for this little space on the internet. Thank you for kicking my butt 5 times a week!
4. Planning. (<-- the link to this week's food and fitness plan if you missed it) Setting a mini-activity goal each week helps keep me accountable and makes the overall goal seem so much more attainable. If all I think about is the fact that I have to run a half marathon in a month I will get overwhelmed, but if I only think about it one week at a time, like, This week I will run 8 miles, it is so much easier.
5. God. I have been blessed to have a healthy body that is capable of running, biking, swimming, etc. I try to thank God for it as much as possible and get the most use out of it. Lately I have been using my workout time as a time to talk with God and meditate. I also love singing the song, "I'm running to your arms, I'm running to your arms..."
Cheesy, I know, but did you really expect anything less?
I am linking up with some of my blogger friends for this post:

Have a wonderful week!
Hi Racheal. Visiting you from Motivational Monday. The sunflower is a great photography subject. I really love it! Well, I do have few things in common with you. I want to lose weight, be healthy and get strong for my family. I want to set a good example to my kids. And who doesn't love foods? Have a great week!

such a cute pic in the flowers!!! i need to bike again soon, i miss that!
ReplyDeleteThat lil girl is PRESH! Your list sounds a lot like mine. I want to be healthy to enjoy a healthy life with my family and also to appreciate the body/health the Lord has blessed me with. I had a bout with bulimia for 6 years and I am now in recovery. I am so grateful to the Lord that He's renewed my body and I want to show that appreciation by living a healthier lifestyle. Thanks so much for linking up.
ReplyDeleteAw ww! Your little lady is adorable!! How cute is that outfit!? My main motivation is my family too, and setting a good example for my kids so they have those healthy habits. Last, I love your triathlon - lounging in the pool totally counts!
