Before I was pregnant, if Dan and I found a night to ourselves in the midst of our busy schedule, we might decide to go on a date.
That date would probably include an appetizer, wine / cocktails, dinner, and maybe even dessert.
Of course we would have fun, but at the end of the night we would be left with a hefty dinner / drinks bill and wondering who was going to drive us home.
Now, things are a little different.
We often have nights to ourselves, as I really don't like to leave the house once I am home from work. However, we can still make them special by taking the time to enjoy them together.
Last night Dan and I made dinner together.
I tossed(?) the pizza dough.
Dan prepped the toppings (grilled chicken breast, bacon, onions, and cheese with a sauce of BBQ sauce mixed with Ranch dressing).
We still had our drinks - NA for me.
We didn't watch TV, but instead caught up on the FPU class we missed - Investing and College Savings (recap coming soon).
Now, we have obviously had more extravagant / exciting date nights, but this one was exactly what we needed to wind down from a busy week.
So what if Dan fell asleep by 7:45? Poor guy was tired.
I am looking forward to this weekend. Work this morning. Couples baby shower this evening. Checking things off the to-do list on Sunday! I hope your's is just as wonderful!

Question for the day
Do you prefer date nights in or out? Sometimes I think it is really fun to get dressed up and go somewhere nice. Other nights I would just rather put my PJ's on.
Both are good. Sometimes I like staying home and making dinner with Travey, hanging out in our PJ's.
ReplyDeleteWe used to go out more before we had a child, and the money was still there. But I like it would my mother in law gets our daughter after school and we can come home from work and make a nice dinner and have adult conversation. And we get to put our PJ's on too.
ReplyDeleteI love date nights in! Sometimes I just love being at home with the dogs, snuggling with my honey on the couch and watching a movie or a show. Still, I wish my husband would cook/prep with me once in a while. He thinks there is no reason to cook at home. I think he's afraid of the kitchen!
