Happy Labor Day! I hope you soak in this extra day off with whatever it is you love to do. I will be spending some quality time with the fam.
A few weeks ago Dan told me we were invited to join a fantasy football league with a guy he works with. I thought that sounded like fun because I never turn down a chance to gamble and I want to care about something else this season beside the Chiefs winning.
I love living in Kansas City and I usually love being a Chiefs fan, but sometimes it can be a little painful. This season I can put all my hopes and frustrations into more than one basket.
We met everyone in our league after being an hour late to the draft party yesterday because apparently I didn't see the invite on the email. FAIL. I was so happy to make such a great first impression.
Although I spent the majority of high school with my back to the game facing my friends, I changed my tune during college when I got into Mizzou football. I now know the basic rules of football and the positions - at least on offense.
That is where my expertise ends, so I learned how to draft in about one minute and then spent the next few hours feeling like a complete idiot and trusting the ESPN rankings to pick my team.
Every time I asked a question I am sure everyone there was thinking, "This is going to be like taking candy from a baby."
I love it when I can make people feel better about themselves.
Here is my team - in all of its glory.
Team Kendrick
QB Cam Newton
RB Maurice Jones-Drew
RB Adrian Peterson
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Roddy White
TE Tony Moeaki
FLEX Ryan Mathews
D/ST Seahawks D/ST
K Sebastian Janikowski
BE Steve Smith
BE Dez Bryant
BE Trent Richardson
BE Jared Cook
BE Stevan Ridley
BE Denarius Moore
BE Roy Helu
Now I have to learn about bye weeks and who to bench and when to trade. I like to think of this as a rebuilding year.
Eats
I made Dan and I kale omelets for breakfast. One piece of toast was covered in delicious honey apple butter.
After church Dan and I met some friends at a new to us local Italian restaurant. The Alfredo was great - I ate half.
I ordered a salad too, but it came with a few strands of hair, so I didn't eat it.
I had a major headache after thinking so hard at the draft party, so while Dan went golfing, I rented a chick flick (Lucky One) and ate ice cream and cereal for dinner.
As I was going to bed I almost peed my pants when I saw this hanging on our stairway wall:
At first I thought it was Dan, but he was just as creeped out as I was. So, whoever snuck in our house and hung this poster please step forward. You have a lot of explaining to do.
My boyfriend said that's a really good team you have there!
