While looking in the refrigerator for dinner ideas after work yesterday, I saw that we had about 10 tomatoes the size of my head that weren’t going to last much longer. I wish I could brag and say that I grew these giant tomatoes, but the tomatoes coming out of our garden are smaller than a baseball. The head-size tomatoes are courtesy of my grandpa’s garden – God bless him.
Dan and I quickly decided to make our two favorite tomato standbys – salsa and BLTs.
Dan makes the best salsa.
When I was a freshman in college, living about 2 hours away from home, Dan would come visit me on the weekends and always bring a huge container of homemade salsa. My girlfriends and I would sit in our dorm room and happily munch away. I didn’t think much of it then, but realize now that is something really sweet for a 19 year old boy to do. I wish I could go tell my 19 year old self how lucky I was.
Looks like we will be putting salsa on everything for the next two weeks.
While Dan made the salsa I fried up the bacon and we enjoyed our sandwiches while watching last night’s episode of The Newsroom.
Beautiful. With every episode I watch, I love that show more and more. I literally get goose bumps and it makes me want to be a reporter.
Dessert was the worst kind of impulse buy. This is what happens when you don’t feed your baby before you go to the grocery store.
Breakfast – banana, coconut, butterscotch oatmeal.
Lunch: tuna sandwich and chips
Snacks: apple, orange, baby carrots
Three miles on the treadmill while reading Insurgent – the follow up to Divergent. The story is getting pretty good. I am sad I have to wait for the third book to come out.
