I woke up at 2 o’clock this morning and thought I was having a heart attack. My chest felt like it was on fire, right underneath my left collar bone all the way up to my neck. I almost woke Dan up when my reasoning kicked back in and I realized it was probably just heart burn. Thank goodness I had read about how many pregnant women have heart burn, or else I would be writing this post from the ER. Ha.
Over half of my patients have heart burn, and I have always treated it as something minor. Well, not anymore. That pain is legit. I could barely focus on my computer trying to figure out if I could take the lone sample of heart burn medication I had in my medicine cabinet. I finally found I could take it, and also drank a little bit of milk. After an hour or so I finally fell back asleep, but I still feel not-so-hot this morning.
I know that pregnancy can cause heart burn because the higher levels of progesterone cause the stomach muscles to relax. But guess what can also cause heart burn? Fresh garden jalapenos.
It is going to be a long summer without those in my life.
But, I will do anything to not feel that way again. Goodbye spicy food – see you in January.
We had a monster taco salad last night for dinner. I put some frozen chicken in the crockpot and covered it with what remained of Dan’s leftover salsa, then added oregano, cumin, and garlic salt. It cooked on low all day and when I got home I was welcomed to an amazing smelling house. Then all I had to do was prep the tomatoes (red and yellow), red beans, avocado, corn, red onion, and jalapenos and we were good to go. Until 2 o’clock in the morning.
Breakfast was light, and not so good. I won’t buy this brand again. FYI – Noosa > Greek Yogurt > Wallaby ~ regular yogurt.
Lunch + snacks – leftover sour cream noodle bake, cantaloupe, and Greek yogurt.
Dessert – strawberry cheesecake Blue Bell
I slept in yesterday and didn’t have time to run before work. However, when I got home I immediately changed my clothes and hit the treadmill for a 3 mile walk while finishing Insurgent. The ending was great – I am sad there isn’t even a projected publication for the 3rd book. Sigh. I guess it is time for a new book. Any good suggestions? I have heard that The Violets of March and The Night Circus are both good.
Thought for the day:
