When we started having conversations about the baby, Dan would say “he” or “she” or “him” or “her.” When he said that I would questioningly say “himmmm???” Like, “How do you know if it is a boy or a girl yet?”
Now, instead, he has named the baby Margaret. Hahaha. I have no idea why he picked that name, but it drives me crazy. He knows it drives me crazy, so of course he says it all the time.
I told him the other day that the baby is the size of a poppy seed right now, so once he called the baby “Poppy.” I told him that we should name it “Pappi” instead. Poor kid isn’t even out of the womb yet and is already getting horrible nicknames.
Dan has also started calling me Mamma Bear. I would have HATED that nickname before I was pregnant, but now, when he says it, I can’t stop the smile that comes to my face.
I want to keep track of all the things we say that our baby is going to do or not going to do – mostly because I am sure we will laugh at our naïve selves in the future. Currently, this is what Dan has come up with:
- Our baby is going to master the “Your Baby Can Read” program
- Our kids are not allowed to watch “today’s cartoons” and we will therefore have to order old Looney Tunes DVDs.
- As soon as the baby can walk it will be potty trained (I pretty much laughed in his face at that one).
I am sure there will be much more ridiculousness to come.
