Yesterday, after I published my post, I went to the back door to let the dogs in only to find that they were nowhere to be found. Sigh.
We have a fenced in back yard, but we also have a beagle. A beagle with an amazingly quick digging ability who is driven by his sense of smell more than his common sense to stay at a place where he has food and shelter. Unfortunately, Lilly usually follows, due to her fear of being alone.
I immediately jumped in my car and started driving up and down my neighborhood streets, Minnie Mouse pajamas and all, yelling, “Aumlette!!!” (pronounced like omelet) and “Lilly Girl!!!” at 5:45 in the morning.
I am sure my neighbors love me.
After 5 minutes of no luck I came home to find that Lilly had returned and Courtney was there to meet me for our morning run. She graciously hopped in the car with me and was an extra pair of eyes. After driving around for another 15 minutes, we finally stopped and asked some walkers, who had actually seen him. We drove in the direction that they pointed, and sure enough, there he was, trotting down the street like it was what he did everyday.
I was so relieved that we found the dogs, but I felt horrible that I wasted all of Courtney’s running time. She has a little boy, so she has to carefully allot her time. I ended up dropping her off at her house and coming back home to guiltily treadmill it for 3 miles.
Breakfast was a fresh parfait, enjoyed outside while monitoring the inmates.
For lunch / snacks, I was having a competition to see how many plastic bags I could pack.
I ended up not eating the sweet potato, but when I went to the hospital to see Miss Hallaway I was wishing I did, and instead ate a fajita.
I was able to snap a few more pictures..
Dan and I headed over to Courtney’s house for dinner where we played frisbee while her husband grilled steaks.
After dinner she put on The Lion King for her son to watch, and slowly, one by one, all of the adults joined him on the couch. We couldn’t resist a great childhood movie. I left before Moufasa died. I hate that part.
