Yesterday I planned to complete a 30 minute hill workout on the treadmill that went like this:
- 6 miles per hour at 6% incline for 90 seconds
- 0% for 60 seconds
- 7% for 60 seconds
- 0% for 120 seconds
- repeat up to 30 minutes
Unfortunately, my legs weren’t all that enthused after 20 minutes and I had to stop early. I think next time I should reduce the speed a little bit.
I felt pretty guilty about cutting off my workout early, so I leashed up the dogs and took them on a 2ish mile walk around the neighborhood. I am a horrible dog owner in that I rarely take my dogs on walks, instead I just let them run in the backyard. I used to take them on runs with me but stopped when I had to literally carry my 45 pound dog over a mile home because he just laid down in the middle of the road and wouldn’t get up again.
When I actually do bust out the leashes Aumlette gets that puppy spirit back and Lilly’s tail starts thumping on overdrive.
However, after about half a mile into it they start panting and slow down considerably. I had to all but drag Aumlette home the last half mile. One of my neighbors outside even laughed and said, “Your dogs look beat!” Ha! They were, but oh so happy. They were still panting 30 minutes later.
I realize their inability to walk 2 miles is entirely my fault, and I need to make a better effort to take them on walks. I don’t want to be a horrible dog mom.
I upgraded my cereal to bran flakes. They are no pb cheerios, but were still delish.
When I went to make my lunch, I still had the sriracha and mayo combo on my mind from lunch the day before. I quickly decided to make a sriracha egg salad by mixing 1 tsp of mayo, a tbs of sriracha, 2 hard boiled eggs, and a green onion.
It was so flavorful and filling – I am sure it will be a new staple in my lunch time rotation. I snacked on some fruit and cottage cheese and tomatoes throughout the day.
As soon as the dogs and I got home from our walk Dan had dinner ready and waiting. Grilled chicken and veggies!
(Look at the recipe for sugar cookies on the plate – written by an 8 year old. I giggle every time I eat off these plates.)
Dessert was the last of Grandma June’s homemade ice cream left over from the weekend. Jealous? You should be.
Thought for the day:
