Poor Dan had to mow it and bag it last night.
While we were in Weston, we saw this beautiful tree.
I took pictures of it so I could figure out what type of tree it is and buy one for my yard.
Then, when we got home I saw that the little trees in our backyard were flowering! But ours are even better because one of them has a little bird’s nest in it. No little eggs yet – but fingers crossed!
This is our first Spring in our new house, so I am excited to see what else blooms. The pergola has a beautiful flowering vine growing like crazy right now.
I am going to Google how to keep that thing under control. Any advice would be much appreciated.
EatsBrace yourself – I ate a lot yesterday.
Dessert first – while Dan was taking on the back yard, I was taking on the kitchen.
Obviously the kitchen won.
I made crinkle cookies following *this recipe*. Although they were very messy to make, they were 2 points a piece and really good. Even better on top of some frozen yogurt.
I took breakfast to a new level by combining a green monster smoothie and overnight oats. I slightly modified *this recipe* – I threw a bunch of kale, 1.5 tbs of chia seeds, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder, a banana, and 1 C of almond milk into the blender. I then mixed the blended mixture with 1/3 C oats and let the bowl sit in the fridge overnight.
This bowl was legit and tasted legit. Although I appreciated the flavor profile, I would not recommend this to someone who is a picky eater. However, it was great fuel to get me though the day.
Lunch was leftovers from the night before atop some super greens with a not-very-good salad dressing.
Snacks were something old (greek yogurt with peaches) and something new (fig butter).
The fig butter was awesome and tasted a lot like the inside of a fig newton, but taking only 1 tbs out at a time will require some self control.
For dinner I roasted some beets (cut ends off, drizzle in 1 tsp of oil, wrap in foil and bake at 425 for about an hour) and baked some tilapia marinated in lemon pepper sauce, seasoned with Cajun seasoning, and dotted with my favorite rooster.
Combined with left over quinoa – this was an amazing meal.
RunYesterday morning I ran a beautiful 3.5 miles as the sun came up and then did the YouTube arms video I did a few weeks ago.
My cousin let me borrow her 5 lb. weights, which are a large improvement over a can of soup and a jar of spaghetti sauce. Thanks Amanda! The added weight made my arms feel like noodles by the end of the 20 minutes.
Thought for the day
