...and Santa brought me a little something something. :)
Eesh, Dan and I spent months debating over what type of vehicle to get. He wanted a car, I wanted a SUV. He wanted something faster but older, I wanted something newer and more dependable. So, our price / size / bells and whistles compromise: a GMC Terrain. This particular one had everything we wanted, despite the color. We wanted black, but my inner J-FO settled for red.
It is slightly used, so it was already marked at a good price, but I thought we could get it a little lower. However, when we went out for a test drive Dan said to the salesman, and I quote, "I know this is a really good deal, and there aren't any other cars like this in the area, so you can't go down on the price, right?" Bless his heart....
The next day I was determined to get the price lower, so after a few phone calls and some tips from my uncle, I talked him down a significant amount of money. Just call me William Shatner. :)
The past few weeks I have been reading a blog that I found on my cousin's blog. This week I saw the the turkey treadmill workout. I thought this was perfect because it combines sprinting and hill climbing, it is short, and it's the day before Thanksgiving! There is no way that I would remember all the different combos of speeds and inclines, so I copied it down on paper and taped it to the wall in front of my treadmill.
I will say that I rarely use the incline on my treadmill. In fact, I am pretty sure it grunted, "WTF?!?" as I pressed the + button.
In general the workout was great. The hill climbing was like cardio plus squats and lunges all at the same time. I did have a problem with the sprinting "Tabata intervals" because I had to start at 4.0, sprint at 8.0 for 20 seconds, then 4.0 for 10 seconds, then back at 8.0 again. This was difficult for my treadmill because by the time I clicked the + button up to 8.0 it had already been 20 seconds. Needless to say, those 4 minute intervals could use some fine tuning. Maybe I will look up this Tabata character and get some pointers.
Tonight I am going to see Breaking Dawn with some of my favorite ladies. Tomorrow is a long run (my goal is another 6 miler) and then chowing down on some of Grandma June's finest. Does life get any better than this?
Thought for the day (my Pandora actually played this song at 9% incline):
"There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb"
